US Military Targeted a 'Major Complex' in Venezuela, President Trump Stated Without Offering Details.

Ex-President Donald Trump has claimed that US forces struck a "major plant" in the South American country in recent days. But, the ex-leader withheld information about the exact nature or location of the target, and officials have issued no further comment from his camp.

Unspecific Remarks Offered During a Radio Interview

"US forces just knocked out – I'm not sure if you saw – they have a major complex, where the ships come from. The other night, we knocked that out. So we struck them decisively," Trump allegedly said to GOP supporter and businessman John Catsimatidis on Friday.

Potential Significance of a Verified Attack

If a US strike were to be confirmed, it would constitute the initial attack on Venezuelan soil since the Pentagon began a expansion of US strike forces in the Caribbean region to disrupt drug traffickers that the Trump administration claims operate under the direction of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro.

This stated mission of the military buildup has evolved into a quarantine aimed at hindering the country's oil exports.

Online Video and Administration Claims

Trump has for some time stated that US forces are prepared to expand the operations by striking targets inside Venezuela, a move that would theoretically require legislative approval.

Video footage posted on social media on 24 December appeared to show an explosion allegedly from an industrial area in a Venezuelan state. Yet, the video or the site in question has not been confirmed by third parties.

An source allegedly told a news network that the former president was referring to a narco-trafficking site in his remarks.

Reaction and Ongoing Military Posture

The Maduro government has issued no statement on the alleged strike the former president referenced. Additionally, there have been no verified accounts from Venezuela regarding it.

The presence of American forces in the region – a position certain officials have termed a naval quarantine – represents the largest naval operation of his time in office.

Officials have stopped short from describing the operation as a full blockade, but have confirmed that around 15,000 troops are stationed across the Caribbean and Gulf of Mexico, including a aircraft carrier group, F-35 aircraft, and Coast Guard cutters to uphold existing economic sanctions.
